National Marine Science Centre
The National Marine Science Centre is part of Southern Cross University's School of Environment, Science and Engineering. It is located next to the Novotel Resort complex at Coffs Harbour. 02 6648 3900.
New climate-controlled fish hatchery facilities, opened in 2012, enable researchers to grow all stages of the marine food chain, from algal culture to live food. Included is an aquaculture farm, tanks ranging from 1000 to 7000 litres and a new 30,000 broodstock facility. The new facilities enhance the study options for students who are undertaking their final year of the Bachelor of Marine Science and for postgraduate students who come to the Centre from all over the world.
